Here we will present various examples of Luther's and Lutheran exegesis. In this way, Luther (and early Lutherans) will be brought back into today's exegetical debate. After all, Luther was a professor of biblical (OT) theology at the University of Wittenberg. However, the most recent Luther revival, the Luther Renaissance after WWI, has regarded and appreciated Luther more as a systematician or as a mere historical figure, because it by and large accepted the hermeneutical presuppositions of Enlightenment theology; this made many of Luther's biblical exegeses seem quaint or obsolete.
